CHAFFEE — Audio Care, Inc. Hearing Services in Chaffee has more than 40 years of combined experience, between its two licensed specialists. Together, they provide expert assistance for their customers, when it comes to hearing-related ailments.
Thomas Caruso, a board certified hearing instrument specialist and his colleague, Dr. Leslie Hultberg, an audiologist, have recently opened their own practice, to serve the community.

Caruso is a native of Western New York, growing up in the Jamestown area. His father was in the business since the early 1960s, and Caruso decided to pursue the same career. Licensed since the early 1980s, Caruso is board certified in New York and Pennsylvania. He is currently a member of the International Hearing Society, and also holds national board certification in hearing instrument services.
Caruso has diverse experience in dispensing hearing aids and explained that he has kept up with the latest advancements in technologies by practicing in the most relevant hearing health manufacturers labs.

“Hearing problems impact over 40 million people worldwide,” Caruso said. “From children to senior citizens, we help customers of all ages. Our goal is to provide quality care and to get them headed in the right direction, when it comes to their hearing.”
Hultberg is also his niece, and has been practicing in the community since 2001. She has a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing from the New York State University at Fredonia, as well as a master’s degree in communicative disorders. She also received her doctorate of audiology from Salus University.
Audio Care, Inc. does everything from hearing evaluations to hearing aids. The pair also specializes in servicing repairs, on all makes and models. In addition, they have recently added an invisible hearing aid, which has been very popular with their customers, according to Caruso.
“We offer everything, when it comes to hearing services,” said Caruso. “We do all kinds of work with tinnitus, therapy and masking. We deal with hearing impairment patients, as well as hearing loss patients. Troubleshooting for hearing loss is one of our services, including many tests that we provide, for our patients, to ensure their quality of hearing.”
Caruso has been in the hearing aid and audio care business for more than 30 years now, but he has also been around the business ever since he was a kid, learning the ins and outs from his father. He has seen two different eras of hearing services, during the early 1980s, and the current era he practices in, today.
“It’s pretty amazing, to have seen how far technology has grown, over the years,” said Caruso, of the devices he has encountered. “Hearing aids have tremendously improved, over time. They used to always be such big, noticeable devices and now they are rather smaller pieces of equipment. The digital and technological advancements in the business have evolved into many changes, as far as the equipment goes.
“Most of the devices used today are wireless,” he continued. “They are bluetooth compatible with people’s cell phones. We have all of the state-of-the-art testing facility equipment, to diagnose our patients’ hearing problems.”
Audio Care, Inc. is located at 12399 Olean Road, Suite F, in Chaffee. The business also has two other locations, in Olean and Jamestown. Caruso said that he has plans to keep growing his business, as the years go on. “We’re always trying to expand our practice,” he said.
“We are constantly trying to keep up to date, with all of the education that’s available, in order to deliver the best services to our patients. I travel all over the country, to train in some of the best facilities in the hearing manufacturing business, to make sure our practice is up to par with the most innovative methods. We will keep serving our patients, throughout Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegheny counties, in order to keep expanding. We’ll continue to help our patients, as much as possible, and try to get the most fulfillment out of work, on a daily basis.”
