POTTED POTENTIAL — Homespun Treasures sells cultivated plants, such as herbs, annuals and perennials.
EAST CONCORD — Susan Lux, owner of Homespun Treasures Gift Shop in East Concord, has been in the business for 27 years. She is originally from the Springville area, and moved there from Holland when she was 17.
“At Homespun, I sell and cultivate mostly herbs, annuals and perennials, in the summer. In our gift shop, customers will find items for their gardens, soy candles, floral materials and other varieties of home décor. Our current procedure differs somewhat from other greenhouses, in that we start growing plants from seeds,” Lux said, of her wares.
TROVE OF TREASURES — Homespun Treasures’ interior features a selection of wares, from wreathes to flowers and more.
“We are presently working on our garden and, due to the unfortunate weather, there are several clean-up procedures that need attending to. Our main gift shop has been crumbling for years and needs fixing. The building used to be the old East Concord Post Office, many years ago; it has great historical value. As of now, our neighbor, who builds Amish sheds, has offered the use of it, for the time being. We are waiting for the concrete to be poured around August and [for the facility] to be finished sometime in October, this year.”
Lux also commented on the landscape and location of the building that houses her shop. “I am hoping a new layout of the grounds and sign will make our shop easier to find, as for some, it has been hard to spot when driving by.”
Homespun Treasures Gift Shop is located on 11952 Route 240 in East Concord. Lux can be reached by calling 592-3480. The shop is open Sundays, 12 – 5 p.m., closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday – Saturday, 10 – 5 p.m.
