SPRINGVILLE — On Thursday morning, Aug. 2, sporting goods retailer Olympia Sports opened its newest location, on South Cascade Drive in Springville.
The company’s 210th store is located in Springville’s Tops Plaza. This newest location is Olympia Sports’ 49th store in New York state.
According to District Sales Manager Stacey Bauer, three full-time and nine part-time individuals have been hired to staff the location.
OPEN FOR BUSINESS — A team of Olympia Sports’ employees from all over the region gathered to assist with the opening of the Springville location. That team was made up of Store Manager Brett Csont, Manager Trainee Gayle Patterson, Michael Ornce, Tom Michaels, Lead Store Opener Laura Jennings from the North Tonawanda location, Julia Baird from Penfield, Kyle Laurson from Canandaigua, Bill Putnam from Johnson City and Shane Clark from Newark.
A team of employees from the region assisted with the preparations for opening the new store, while the Springville employees were trained at the next closest Olympia Sports, in East Aurora.
Employees were hired two weeks ago, to allow them time to learn the ropes and acclimate themselves to their new positions.
TIME TO SHOP — Men, women and kids sections offer something for everyone at Olympia Sports.

“We like to bring name brands to the rural areas that don’t usually get access to them,” Bauer said.
“Olympia Sports has developed a very strong, loyal customer base in the Northeast region, since opening its first location in South Portland, Maine in 1975,” said Olympia Sports President Ed Manganello. “With our great selection of brand name athletic footwear, apparel and sporting goods, we deliver quality product at affordable prices.”
In celebration of the new store’s opening, Olympia Sports will run a 20 percent off entire purchase grand opening sale through Aug. 14.
Free Olympia Sports T-shirts will be given to the first 150 customers, beginning Aug. 5.
Through Aug. 14, customers can also enter to win a $500 Olympia Sports gift card.
The new store is located at 202 South Cascade Drive, between Radio Shack and Subway. Store hours are Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
