Springville Journal election 2012 coverage: Colden Town justice

Michael Schneider
Michael Schneider is running for town justice in the town of Colden on Nov. 6. "I am enthusiastic about this opportunity to run for an elected office," Schneider said. "I have recently retired from my primary dual career with the U.S. military and U.S. Postal service which, under federal law, has prevented me from exploring my interest in an elected position."

Schneider has lived in Colden since 1986. He and his wife Shirene (nee Hacker) have raised three children in town. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo for management, with a concentration in accounting. He served in the United States military for 27 years as a pilot, safety officer/accident investigator, aircraft mechanic and finance clerk in Vietnam.
He has worked as a constable for the town of Colden; reporter and executive board member for The Colden Sentinal; soccer coach for Colden Recreation; commander and quartermaster for Colden VFW Post 8693; treasurer or Colden Boy Scouts; NYS-certified EMT and pump operator for the Colden Fire Company; secretary/treasurer for the Colden Fire District; member of the Holland American Legion Frank H. Brink Post 607 and member of the West Falls Conservation Club.
The candidate pledged that, as a judge, he will "approach the job with integrity and professionalism, protect and maintain individual rights, hold people accountable for their actions, blend together equality, diligence, firmness and impartiality in all [his] decisions, maintain an excellent rapport and ... work with the present, sitting judge Montgomery, share the case loads" and, "after hearing a specific case and community service is the sentence, [he] will bring back the legal guidelines for its use, e.g., no private individuals/businesses will be used for this purpose."
