Sonia O'Brien
Sonia Rose (nee Metzger) O達rien, 87, of Springville, died Feb. 19 at Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville.

She was born May 14, 1925 in Petaluma, Calif. to the late Alfred and Rose (nee Lindau) Metzger.

She was a self-employed antique dealer.

She was the mother of Kathleen (Donald) Wells of Springville; Joseph John O達rien III of Venice, Fla.; Michael (Peggy) O達rien of Orchard Park; Roseanne (Michael) Wells of Springville; Patricia (Jack) Argetsinger of Wichita, Kan.; Sonia (Patrick) Zoeller of Englewood, Fla.; Alfred (Barb) O達rien of Angola; Lisa (John) Hogenmiller of Boston and Elizabeth (Michael) Langevin of Seffner, Fla. Grandmother of 16 grandchildren. Great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren. Friend of Arnold Hylkema. Sister of the late Olga Hart, Marian Marso and Alfred Metzger.

A funeral was held Feb. 23 from the prayer tower at The Tabernacle in Orchard Park.

Thomas Smith
Thomas E. Smith, 63, of Springville, died Feb. 17.

Husband of Diana (nee Phillips) Smith; father of Levi (Katie) Smith and Kasi (Jason) Zemrus; grandfather of Kiki and Loki Zemrus; son of the late Edward and Shirley Smith; brother of Deborah (Donald) Crampton, Richard (Karen), Don (Paula) Smith and the late Dan and Edward Smith.

A memorial service was held Feb. 20 from the Wentland Funeral Home in North Collins.

Jane Spalti
A memorial service will be held for Jane Spalti, 80, of Springville, who died Feb. 20. The service will be held March 2 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ellicottville at 1 p.m.

Mary Swartz
Mary Swartz

Mary 鉄ib (nee Sibley) Swartz, 85, died Feb. 4 in Rocky Mount, N.C., after 35 years of living with multiple sclerosis. She was born in Salamanca on Oct. 6, 1927, to the late Alan and Dorothy (nee Fisher) Sibley of Little Valley.

She graduated from Little Valley High School in 1945 and attended Cornell University for three years.

She worked as library aide at Springville-Griffith Institute and Central School. She participated in events at First Presbyterian churches everywhere she lived. She participated in several MS walk-a-thons. She was a seamstress, did crafts, worked crossword puzzles, played Scrabbleョ and Bingo and read.

She moved to North Carolina, 19 years ago, to be near her daughters, Dale (Stephen) Strock and Susan (Danny) Everett, and her grandsons, Adrian Strock and Nathan Everett.

She was the wife of Richard Swartz, a World War II United States Navy radioman and tailgunner, teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal.

She was the sister of the late Ray Sibley. She is survived by brother Guy Sibley of Cattaraugus; sister-in-law Mary Jane Sibley of Little Valley; nephews Craig Sibley of Gowanda, Dennis Sibley of Salamanca, Don Sibley, Doug Sibley and niece Debbie Sibley of Little Valley.

A memorial service was held Feb. 11 at The First Presbyterian Church of Rocky Mount.
