Carey Andrews

Carey Lynn Andrews (nee Neamon), 40, of East Concord, died Nov. 15 at her home. She was born in Springville on June 9, 1972.

She was a graduate of Pioneer High School and the Genesee Community College nursing program. She was a registered nurse, who had worked at the Texas Children’s Hospital.

She was the wife of Chad Andrews of East Concord; mother of Cali Andrews of East Concord; daughter of David (Patricia) Neamon of Arcade and Sharon Roblee of East Concord; sister of David (Denise) Neamon of East Aurora; granddaughter of Ellen Neamon of Arcade and Ruth Spencer of East Concord; aunt of Alexis and Tristan; also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral was held Nov. 19 from the Hope Lutheran Church of Arcade. The Rev. Shawn Hannon officiated. Burial was in Siloam Cemetery, Freedom.

Eric Balog

Eric Balog, 46, of Springville died Nov. 27 at his home.

He was born July 17, 1966 in Springville, the son of Larry and Linda (nee Beck) Balog.

He had been a carpenter and homecrafter in Cheektowaga. He was a photographer, camper, racer, hockey player and cook.

He is survived by Deborah Balog; parents Larry and Linda Balog; children Nathan, Cara, Jenna and Travis Balog, all of Springville; grandmother Letha Smith of Springville and sister Carissa (David) Chandler of Springville. He was predeceased by his brother, Ryan Christopher Balog.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville, where a funeral service will be held, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Fred Poeppel will officiate. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice Foundation of Western New York Inc.

Mary Anna Bettinger

Mary Anna Bettinger (nee Bach), 82, of Langford, died Nov. 21. She was the wife of the late Harold Bettinger Sr.; mother of Harold “Hap” (Janet) Bettinger Jr. of Springville, Cindy (Jim) Pelc, Christine Bettinger and the late Kathy Bettinger; grandmother of three grandchildren; great-grandmother of three; predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 27 from Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Langford. Arrangements were made by the Wentland Funeral Home of North Collins.

Joyce Fisher
Joyce Fisher, 74, of Springville, died Nov. 28 in Elderwood Manor at Lakewood in Hamburg.

She was born in Springville on July 9, 1938, the daughter of the late Hugh and Vivian (nee Heath) King.

She was a homemaker, planted flowers and gardened.

She was the mother of Michael (Cindy) Fisher, David (Paula) Fisher, Steven Fisher and Cindy (Dennis) Sullivan; grandmother of 13 grandchildren; great-grandmother of 10 great-grandchildren; sister of Betty (Karl) Muller, Debra King, Donald King, Gerald (Sue) King and Dennis (Deborah) King; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville. A funeral service will follow, at 4 p.m. The Rev. David Bevington will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville.

Lucia Egner
Lucia Egner, 89, died Nov. 23 at Absolute Care of Eden.

She was born Dec. 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Egner, formerly of Springville.

Her brother Thomas owned Egner’s Restaurant on Boston-Springville Road in East Concord, where Lucia was known by patrons as “Super Broom.”

She was the mother of Rosalie (Jay) of Eden; grandmother of four grandchildren; great-grandmother of eight; sister of Florence, Beatrice, May, Violet, Elnora, Norman and Thomas.

A funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 30 from the Loomis, Offers and Loomis Funeral Chapel in Hamburg. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Gideons International.

Henry Glanowski
Henry Glanowski, 77, of West Valley, died Nov. 23 in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. He was born Oct. 12, 1935 in Buffalo, the son of Casimer and Pearl (nee Glowacki) Glanowski.

He was a hunter, fisherman and gardener and had been employed as a plater for Arcata Graphics in Depew and American Optical in Buffalo.

He was the husband of Patricia (nee Zolnowski); father of Mark (Nancy) of Houston, Texas, Gary (Hope) of Machias and Stephen (Kim) of Great Falls, Va.; grandfather of 10 grandchildren; great-grandfather of one great-granddaughter; brother of Mary Ann Lisinski of Tonawanda and the late Eleanor Wilkelaski, Jayne Wantuck and Raymond Glanowski.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Home, 271 East Main St., Springville.

Craig Jankowiak
Craig Jankowiak, 33, of Franklinville, died Nov. 21 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

He was born in Springville on Jan. 1, 1979.

He did piecework at the Suburban Adult Services Incorporated workshop in Sardinia.

He was the son of Mary (nee Fox) (Larry Baker) Jankowiak of Chaffee and the late Leonard Jankowiak; brother of Mark (Michelle) of West Valley, Timothy (Heidi) of Franklinville, Michael (Erin) of Niagara Falls and Robert Jankowiak of Arcade.

A funeral was held Nov. 24 from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville. The Rev. Alfons Osciander officiated.
