Lawrence Burns

Lawrence Albert Burns of Tucson, Ariz. died Oct. 15.

He was born Aug. 17, 1920 in Springville, the son of the late Albert and Mabel (nee Hagen) Burns. He served with the U.S. Army in France, during World War II.

He was the husband of the late Ramona (nee Nygaard); father of Arlon (Susan), Valerie and Dwight (Rita); grandfather of five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brother of Eleanor Avery and the late Milton and Lillian Wittmeyer.

A graveside service was held Oct. 18 at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson.

Mary Buskey
Mary Buskey

Mary Jean Buskey, 83, of Springville, died Nov. 18 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.

She was born in Buffalo on Oct. 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Buskey.

She was a lifelong resident of Springville and attended St. Aloysius School.

She was the sister of Phyllis (late Theodore) Snyder of Springville, Harry Buskey of Springville and Norbert (Judy) Buskey of Fayettville, N.Y.; also survived by six nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Nov. 24 at noon at St. Aloysius Cemetery, where burial will take place.

Arrangements were made by the Schindler Funeral Home, located at 44 Center St., Gowanda.

Elsie Oehler
Elsie Oehler (nee Myers), 86, of Collins, died Nov. 17. She was the wife of Joseph Oehler Sr. and the late David Leslie; mother of Kenneth Leslie, Sandra (Ed) Grabski, Joseph Oehler Jr., Gary Oehler and Sharon Oehler; grandmother of 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister of Mary (late Gail) Thompson, Ron and Kenneth Myers and the late William and Donald Myers. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 21 from the Wentland Funeral Home, 10634 Main St., North Collins. Elsie worked in the emergency room department at Mercy Hospital for more than 28 years.

Leonard Jankowiak

Leonard “Lenny” Jankowiak, 72, of Franklinville, died Nov. 14 at Olean General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1940, in Buffalo, the son of Leo and Mary (nee Daruszka) Jankowiak.

He was a hunter and worked at Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna.

He was the father of Mark (Michelle) Fox of West Valley, Craig Jankowiak of Franklinville, Timothy (Heidi) Jankowiak of Franklinville, Michael (Erin) Jankowiak of Niagara Falls and Roger Jankowiak of Arcade; grandfather of Matthew and Brandy Fox, Lisa and Brandi Baker, Elizabeth Fox, Jonathan Baker, Cody Fox, Keisha Sherr, Connor Terwilliger and Landon, Olivia and Alyssa Jankowiak; brother of Helen (John) Bury, Marsha (late John) Melnyk and the late Paul Jankowiak; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Nov. 19 from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville. The Rev. Lawrence Cobel officiated.
