Two men arrested for DWI

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two individuals for driving while intoxicated in separate incidents.

Michael Bugenhagen, 46, of Springville was arrested for DWI after being stopped at a road check on Route 219 in the town of Ellicottville. Upon approach, deputies observed indications of intoxication and administered field sobriety tests. Bugenhagen was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, DWI and is due back in the town of Ellicottville Court.

John Booth, 37, of West Valley was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated after being stopped on Route 242 in the town of Little Valley for failure to keep right. An investigation revealed two open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, one of which belonged to a 16-year-old passenger and one of which was Booth’s.

He was administered a field sobriety test and taken to the sheriff’s office for processing, after which he was charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right and endangering the welfare of a child. He is due back in the town of Little Valley Court.

Man charged with sexual abuse

Erie County Sheriff’s Senior Detective James Hatch arrested Timothy Prouty, 41, of Woodward Avenue, Springville, on Thursday, Sept. 20. The subject was charged with sexual abuse in the second degree, with a person younger than than 14 years of age, a misdemeanor; forcible touching of another person’s sexual or intimate’s parts, a misdemeanor; and acting in a manner injurious to a child younger than 17 years old, a misdemeanor.

Police said they believed that the abuse occurred approximately three times over a three-year period.

Prouty was released on appearance tickets.
