Gunman arrested in Yorkshire

YORKSHIRE  Cattaraugus County 911 dispatched a complaint that a man had pointed a gun at another man at the Roadside Bar and Grill in Yorkshire, on Aug. 10, at 9:55 p.m.

New York State Trooper William Garland responded and interviewed the caller, who gave a description of the man who had pointed a gun at him and his vehicle. Garland located the vehicle. The driver, Daniel Youngman, 48, of Machias, was found to have a handgun on his person.

Upon closer inspection, the handgun was determined to be an air gun. Youngman was also determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Youngman was processed at Machias state police barracks, where he was found to have a .09 percent blood alcohol content. Due to a previous DWI conviction, within 10 years, the DWI charge was a felony.

The original caller refused further cooperation and no charge was lodged for the menacing complaint. Youngman was arraigned in the town of Yorkshire Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on bail.
