COLLINS — New York state troopers arrested Leslie Rodriguez, 27, of Jamestown for first- degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. The arrest took place on Feb. 8.
Investigators from the State Department of Corrections Inspector’s General office were alerted to Rodriguez attempting to get drugs into the prison, while there visiting an inmate. Rodriguez was interviewed outside the visitors center of the prison, and a subsequent search revealed she had attempted to smuggle 22 suboxone strips, hidden inside a balloon, into the facility. Troopers responded and took her into custody. She was processed at the state police Collins barracks, arraigned in the town of Collins Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center, on $20,000 cash bail.
