Yorkshire woman faces several charges

YORKSHIRE — New York state troopers from the Machias barracks responded to West Yorkshire Road in the town of Yorkshire, for a domestic dispute, on Dec. 26.

After an investigation, troopers arrested Melissa Mitchell, 22, of Yorkshire, for her role in the dispute. She was non-compliant and resisted arrest. As Mitchell was being removed from the residence, she flung her head backward at the trooper who was escorting her, striking the trooper in the face and causing injury.

Mitchell was charged with menacing third, criminal mischief fourth and harassment second for her actions, during the domestic dispute. She was additionally charged with resisting arrest and assault second, for her actions afterward.

Mitchell was arraigned in the town of Machias Court and held in the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
