Clarence resident charged with assault

SPRINGVILLE — Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Ellis, of the Springville substation, responded to the Village Optical on West Main Street for a report of an individual physically attacking the owners of the business on March 28.

Dispatchers were advised that a male had entered the store and demanded the return of some property, and had refused to leave the store after becoming verbally abusive. He then proceeded to strike both the male and female owners.

Ellis arrived within minutes, and immediately took the assailant into custody. Arrested was Patrick Brown, 23, of the town of Clarence. He was charged with two counts of harassment in the second degree and one count of trespass, all violations.

He was released on appearance tickets, and will answer to the charges on a future date in the village of Springville Court. The store owners did not appear to be injured during the confrontation.
