Matthew Mowery charged after traffic stop

SPRINGVILLE — New York State Trooper John Dycha stopped a vehicle on Route 16 in the town of Yorkshire for speeding, on Nov. 18. While speaking with the driver, Matthew Mowery, 21, of Buffalo, Dycha noted the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Mowery was asked to come out of the vehicle so a probable cause search could be conducted. He exited the vehicle, but locked it and refused to unlock it, so it could be searched. Mowery was arrested for obstruction of governmental administration second, a misdemeanor.

Once the vehicle was unlocked and searched, a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia was found. This resulted in an additional ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Mowery is to face the charges in the town of Yorkshire Court, at a later date.
