Machias man arrested

MACHIAS — Cattaraugus County 911 dispatched a call for suspicious vehicle in the Machias area on Oct. 10 at 5:44 p.m. New York State Trooper Jeremy Lewandowski responded and located a vehicle matching the description, stopping it on Route 16 in Machias.
The vehicle was driven by Erik H. Hyden, 37, of Machias. Investigation revealed Hyden to be intoxicated and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Hyden was processed and found to have a blood alcohol content of .18 percent and a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years, resulting in the current charge being upgraded to a felony.
Hyden was arraigned at the town of Machias Court. Lewandowski was assisted at the scene by Deputy Hans Heineman of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
