ASHFORD — New York State Trooper William Garland stopped a vehicle on Ahrens Road in the town of Ashford for speeding on Nov. 4.
During the stop, the operator, James Bassage, 28, of Hornell, N.Y., was found to be intoxicated. Marijuana was also found in the vehicle.
Bassage was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana. During processing, Bassage was determined to have a blood alcohol content of .09 percent. He was also found to have a prior DWI, which upgraded the charge to a felony.
Bassage was arraigned in the town of Freedom Court and released after posting bail, to face the charges at a later date.
