GLENWOOD — Erie County Deputy Mike Okal, of the Sheriff’s Snowmobile Unit, arrived at Kissing Bridge Ski Area, on Route 240, in Glenwood, on March 2, for a snowmobile event, when he was notified by a parking attendant that a driver who appeared intoxicated had just left, heading south on Route 240.
Okal was able to catch up to the vehicle and observed a violation. The vehicle was stopped and the driver exhibited signs of intoxication. He was given several sobriety tests, which were failed. Brian Taylor, 44, of Sanborn, N.Y., was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
A computer check revealed that Taylor had a previous conviction for DWI in 2006, stemming from an arrest in the town of Amherst. This elevated his arrest to a felony. He volunteered to take a breath test and registered .24 percent blood alcohol content. He was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $750 bail and will answer the charges in the town of Concord, at a future date.
