A motor vehicle accident involving a pickup truck and two motorcycles sent four people to area hospitals on July 21.
The Erie County Sheriff's office reported that at approximately 2:11 p.m. on Monday, a northbound Ford truck, driven by 17-year-old Brandon Lumberg or Springville, failed to negotiate a curve on Mill Street in the town of Concord, crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s driver, 53-year-old Matthew Yocum of Lancaster, was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight. His passenger, 46-year-old Barbra Yocum, also of Lancaster, was ejected from the motorcycle and fell approximately 30 feet into the Cattaraugus Creek.
Traveling alongside Yocum’s motorcycle was Kenneth Kuberski, 43 of Niagara Falls, on a Kawasaki motorcycle. He was able to avoid the collision but was taken to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both Lumberg and Kuberski were able to rescue Yocum from the Cattaraugus Creek. She was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight for non-life threatening injuries.
Lumberg was charged with speed not reasonable and failure to keep right. The Erie County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit handled the investigation.
