Erie County sheriff’s Deputy Bradford Ballantyne stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 219 southbound, on May 24 at 10:56 p.m.
Ballantyne said that the 17-year-old male driver, a Lancaster resident, was acting nervous, during the conversation. The officer later found hallucinogenic mushrooms in a plastic bag, which a 16-year-old female passenger had, in her possession.
Both subjects were charged with criminal possession of a hallucinogenic substance, a felony, and transported to the Erie County Holding Center, pending arraignment.
Ballantyne was assisted by Deputy Timothy Colling.
