Smith arrested on several charges

SPRINGVILLE — While on patrol on Jan. 26, Erie County Sheriff’s deputy Don Hoelscher observed a vehicle turning north onto Route 219 at a high rate of speed and driving from shoulder to shoulder of the road.

After stopping the vehicle, Hoelscher arrested Hugh Smith, 41, of Springville, and charged him with D-felony driving while intoxicated, for having a revoked driver’s license for previous DWIs from 2011 and 2012; felony aggravated unlicensed operation, for having a revoked license for the DWIs; operating a vehicle without an interlock device; unsafe turn and failure to stay in lane.

A breath test revealed Smith’s blood alcohol content to be .20 percent. He was processed at the Springville substation an transported to the Erie County Holding Center, to await arraignment in Concord Court.
