SPRINGVILLE — Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard reported the arrest of a Springville resident on multiple charges, after deputies stopped the subject, who was driving a stolen vehicle, on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 10:52 p.m.
While on patrol in Springville, deputies Ben Pisa, Jason Bouton, Don Hoelscher and Rich Retzlaff were called to investigate a report of an intoxicated male, who had stolen a neighbor’s van.
While responding to the call, Pisa spotted a van, matching the description of the stolen vehicle, turning onto West Main Street in Springville and stopped the van, with assistance from the other deputies.
Police arrested the driver, Randall Runyan, 26, and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen property, driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated unlicensed operation for driving a suspended license for a prior alcohol related arrest. Runyan refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content.
He was processed at the Springville Station and transported to the Erie County Holding Center to await arraignment on his charges in Springville Court. The van was returned to its owner by the deputies.
