Springville Police Department

– July 27, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a traffic stop and driving while intoxicated and narcotics arrests on Sharp Street.
– July 28, Patrol investigated an animal complaint at Wal-Mart.
– July 28, Patrol assisted the Erie and Cattaraugus county sheriff’s departments with a robbery in progress on Mill Street.
– July 28, Patrol investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Gulf Station on South Cascade Drive.
– July 30, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a reckless operator on Route 219.
– July 30, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a criminal mischief complaint on Colonial Drive.
– July 30, Patrol investigated a hit and run automobile accident at Wal-Mart.
– July 31, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a larceny complaint at Country Fair.

– Aug. 3, Patrol investigated a complaint of petit larceny at Wal-Mart.
– Aug, 3, Patrol arrested Michele Fiorita, of Niagara Falls, for driving a vehicle with a suspended registration.
– Aug. 4, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a motorcyclist’s DWI arrest.
– Aug. 6, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a mental health call on East Main Street.
– Aug. 6, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a shoplifting complaint at Wal-Mart.
– Aug. 7, Patrol assisted at a burglary on North Street.
– Aug. 7, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with numerous larcenies from cars in the village and the arrest of suspects.
– Aug. 8, Patrol investigated a personal injury automobile accident at West Main Street and Central Avenue.
– Aug. 9, The department’s Commercial Truck Enforcement unit and the New York State Department of Transportation performed truck checks.
– Aug. 9, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a domestic incident on Church Street.
– Aug. 10, Patrol investigated a report of suspicious youth activity on North Buffalo Street.
– Aug. 10, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a DWI arrest on Cattaraugus Street.
– Aug. 10, Patrol investigated a report of an intoxicated male on a lawn on Academy Street. The subject was arrested and taken to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital.
– Aug. 10, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a DWI arrest on West Main Street.
– Aug 12, Patrol stopped an erratic operator on South Cascade Drive and arrested Heather Gearman for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Michael Learn arrested on warrant
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office reported the arrest of Michael Learn of Arcade on a bench warrant issued by the town of Machias for failure to appear. The arrest took place in Arcade on July 23 at 10:15 p.m.

Learn was arraigned at Yorkshire Town Court and released to appear in the Machias Court at a later date.

Tammy Skowronski injured in accident
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reported the arrest of a Gowanda woman for driving while intoxicated on July 28 at 5:17 p.m.

While on patrol in District Four, Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Szkatulski of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Transportation Unit responded to a one-vehicle injury automobile accident after a 911 call. His investigation revealed that the operator of a motorcycle had crashed at the Rice Road exit of Route 219.

Szkatulski charged Tammy Skowronski, 51, of Gowanda with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane.

She was treated at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and released on traffic tickets returnable to the town of Boston Court at a later date.

Erie County Sheriff’s deputies make arrests
Erie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested several individuals during the weekend of Aug. 10 – 11 for driving while intoxicated.

Included among those arrested were Ahley Gorman, 24, of Derby, who was arrested on Cattaraugus Street in the town of Concord for DWI, with a blood alcohol content of .09 percent. She was released to a third party.

Deputies also arrested Barbara Backhaus, 43, of Buffalo on Route 219 in the town of Concord, with a BAC of .13 percent.

Daniel Hogg, 35, of Ashford was arrested on West Main Street in Springville with a BAC of .11 percent.

Dennis Green arrested for assault
Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Dennis Green of Machias on a warrant issued by the Ashford Town Court for assault in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Green was transported to Ashford Town Court for arraignment and was released to appear at a later date.

The arrest took place in Machias on July 26 at 8 p.m.
