Police and fire reports from the Journal week of Jan. 25

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to several calls between Jan. 11-17 in Boston, Concord, Sardinia and Springville. Following are the submitted calls:

Boston

– Patrol investigated two property damage automobile accidents in the town of Boston between Jan. 11-17.

Concord

– Jan. 13, Patrol arrested Benjamin Pagan, 24, of Springville, on an outstanding warrant. He was turned over to the New York State Police. The arrest took place on North Vaughn Street.

– Patrol investigated three property damage automobile accidents in the town of Concord between Jan. 11-17.

Sardinia

– Patrol arrested Teejay Johnson, 23, of Springville, on an outstanding warrant. He was released to appear in Springville Court at a later date.

Springville

– Patrol investigated two property damage automobile accidents in the village of Springville between Jan. 11-17.

– Jan. 11, Patrol arrested Lauren Greene, 27, of Boston, for petit larceny on South Cascade Drive. She was released on appearance tickets to appear in Springville Court, at a later date.

– Jan. 11, Patrol arrested Tylor Phinney, 18, of Springville, on an outstanding warrant. He was held at the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment. The arrest took place on Colonial Drive.

– Jan. 11, Patrol arrested Frederick Carson, 25, of Springville for endangering the welfare of a child. He was held at ECHC, pending arraignment. The arrest took place on Colonial Drive.

– Jan. 16, Patrol arrested Joseph Zontek, 53, of Cattaraugus, for petit larceny on South Cascade Drive. He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Springville Court, at a later date.

Springville Police Department

– Jan. 8, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a suspicious person on Franklin Street.

– Jan. 8, Patrol assisted a motorist whose vehicle had broken down at East Main and Franklin streets.

– Jan. 8, Patrol was requested to check the welfare of a subject on East Hill Run.

– Jan. 8, The department’s commercial truck enforcement unit and the New York State Department of Transportation performed truck inspections on North Cascade Drive.

– Jan. 10, Patrol investigated a report of a disturbance at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital.

– Jan. 10, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a disturbance on East Hill Run.

– Jan. 11, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a petit larceny at Wal-Mart.

– Jan. 11, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with investigation of an underage party on Colonial Drive. Numerous arrests were made for alcohol and narcotics.

– Jan. 12, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a property damage automobile accident in the Tops Market parking lot.

– Jan. 13, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a personal injury automobile accident at Springville-Boston and Genesee roads.

– Jan. 16, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a petit larceny at Wal-Mart.

– Jan. 16, Patrol assisted Erie County Sheriff’s deputies with a traffic stop at Franklin Street and North Central Avenue.

Fire Report

– Jan. 13, 3:45 p.m., East Concord firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Springville-Boston Road.

– Jan. 14, 2:54 p.m., Chaffee-Sardinia firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at Schutt Road and Route 16.

– Jan. 15, 7:46 p.m., East Concord firefighters responded to a first aid call on Vaughn Street. Transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital.

– Jan. 18, 5:37 p.m., Springville firefighters responded to a Mercy Flight WNY assist at BCH.

– Jan. 20, 8:24 a.m., Chaffee-Sardinia firefighters responded to a first aid call on Deerfield Drive.

– Jan. 20, 9:48 a.m., Chaffee-Sardinia firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at Pratham Road and Route 39.

– Jan. 20, 11:33 a.m., Springville firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident on South Cascade Drive.

Jaehn arrested for crash

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher Jaehn, 47, of East Concord, on Jan. 18, after he crashed his Ford Econoline van into a ditch and overturned it on East Otto-Springville Road in East Otto.

Jaehn was transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville for head injuries. A passenger of the vehicle, Jeffrey Bieler, 46, of Springville, was taken by Mercy Flight WNY to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo with head and back injuries.

Jaehn was released with traffic tickets and was scheduled to return to the East Otto Town Court, at a later date.

Monnin charged for trespassing and mischief

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Elaine Monnin, 33, of West Valley, on Jan. 14, after an investigation of a burglary in the town of Ashford.

Deputies responded to a Gooseneck Road after the homeowner reported that someone had broken into the home through a window and had brought numerous possessions, including a large dog, into the residence. She caused damage to two doors and created a mess inside the home.

Deputies were able to identify Monnin by using numerous papers and paystubs that were found inside the home. She was located at her residence and charged with burglary third, criminal trespass second and criminal mischief third. She was arraigned in the town of Ashford Court and remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Tree stand larceny

On Jan. 10, a New York state trooper from the Boston barracks investigated a complaint, on Bleistein Road in the town of Colden, about the larceny of a tree stand and harassment of the owner of the property. The complainant stated he had evidence that a neighbor had stolen his tree stand and would not return it. He also stated that the neighbor, David Bush, 62, and his friend James Volk, 62, were harassing him.

The trooper investigated the complaint and conferred with the district attorney’s office, which agreed that there was enough evidence to arrest Bush and Volk.

The trooper arrested Bush, of Bleistein Road in Colden, and Volk, of West Falls Road in West Falls, both for petit larceny and harassment second.

Both were issued appearance tickets to appear in the town of Colden Court, at a later date.
