BOSTON — The Board of Directors of the David J. Shenk Foundation announced that the Boston Fire Company has been awarded a grant for 2012. This organization is a not-for-profit community group that serves the town of Boston. The Boston Fire Company will use the funds to purchase a flag pole ,for their new fire hall.
In previous years, the board has awarded grants to the Boston Emergency Squad, Boston Valley School Emergency Fund, Boston Patriots Little League Football & Cheerleading, Ten Lives Club, The Southtowns Women’s Friendship Club, Boston Valley Elementary Destination Imagination Team, Boston Valley Girl Scouts, Boston Kazoo Band, Boston Meals on Wheels, Turning Back the Clock, Boston Senior Citizens, South Boston Park, Boston 4-H, Boston Young-At-Heart Seniors, Patchin Fire Company and Lake Effects Harmony Chorus. Board members David Shenk, Polly Shenk and Liz Fadale recognized Evans Bank in North Boston, for their help in administering the foundation.
The foundation was established on July 6, 1993 to disburse monies to charitable groups in the town of Boston. David Shenk, the former Boston Town Clerk, donated the money.
