New satellite counseling office opens in Springville

Meaghan Heighway
SPRINGVILLE — A satellite office for Christian Counseling Ministries has opened in Springville, under the direction of Meaghan Heighway.

“With God’s help, we can all learn from our past and gain a sense of hope and purpose for today and our future,” Heighway said.

Her office is housed in the Love INC building, located at 62 East Main St. in Springville. Heighway said that she is excited to be heading up this newest branch of CCM’s offices and added that she believes she has a lot to offer her clients.

Heighway earned her Master of Science Degree in mental health counseling from Canisius College.

She graduated from Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, Pa., with a Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology. She said that she believes her education has prepared her “to address the biblical stance of CCM’s foundation.”

Heighway, the daughter of local residents Stan and Dawn Handzlik, grew up in Springville. Her father pastors the local Assembly of God Church.

Heighway said that she was driven to obtain her degree in mental health counseling, because she was born with cerebral palsy and is hearing impaired.

“I have a great amount of empathy for those who are in pain, which grew from my physical limitations, and I know that counseling is the way that God laid out for me, to best put that gift to use,” she said.

Counseling services will be available to anyone who seeks them out.

Heighway said that she has a “passion to help people who have eating disorders or addictions, but is equipped and ready to handle family and individual needs, of all varieties.”

To make an appointment, contact CCM’s main office at 632-3200, Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Heighway’s session hours vary and are customizable to suit patients’ schedules.

She said that she is planning to hold a group outreach at the Love INC office, using the DVD series “Making your children mind (without losing yours),” by Dr. Kevin Leman. This six-week course will begin on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. Childcare will be available.
