ENRICHING LIVES — Assemblyman Kevin Smardz (back left) joined local young people in picking up donated toys for the “Christmas in July” toy drive from the Boston Recreation Department’s collection site.
BOSTON — Assemblyman Kevin Smardz recently visited the town of Boston Recreation Department to thank participants for their support for his ongoing “Christmas in July” toy drive. The department collected toys to be distributed at Kaleida Health’s Women and Children’s Hospital and was assisted by local young people and their families.
“I would like to offer special thanks to town of Boston Supervisor Martin Ballowe and everyone from the area who donated to the Christmas in July toy drive,” Smardz said. “The patients at Women and Children’s Hospital are extremely appreciative of the toys and seeing the smiles on their faces when they receive a gift makes the whole process worthwhile. Western New York has long been a giving community and the generosity of local residents has helped make this event successful again, this year.”
On Monday, July 30, Smardz joined Assemblyman Ray Walter, members of the Buffalo Jills and Santa Claus to distribute toys to young patients at Women and Children’s Hospital. The toys collected through the toy drive will be given to patients throughout the year.
