Erie County Legislator John Mills reappointed as minority leader

Erie County Legislator John Mills
ERIE COUNTY — Erie County Legislator John Mills was reappointed as minority leader, during the Jan. 8 legislative reorganizational meeting. His appointment was confirmed by a unanimous vote from the minority caucus, including legislators Edward Rath, Kevin Hardwick, Lynne Dixon and Joseph Lorigo.

“I want to thank my colleagues for their support,” Mills said. “I know that this year is going to bring many challenges for Erie County and, as minority leader, I am committed to working with County Executive Poloncarz, Chairwoman Grant and the majority caucus, to ensure we are mindful of taxpayers in every decision we make.”

Mills has served as the Erie County Legislature minority leader, since 2007.

Mills said that the Erie County Legislature’s agenda will include several issues, including the proposed Buffalo Bills lease, union contract matters, some infrastructure repairs and monitoring of the 2013 budget.

“I am pleased that John Mills is once again minority leader in the Erie County Legislature,” Dixon said. “He is fair-minded, knowledgeable and cares deeply about the community. Legislator Mills has always been the perfect gentleman, a legislator dedicated to finding solutions and working in a bipartisan manner.”

The Legislature will hold its next session at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24. For more information, visit www.erie.gov/legislature.
