ORCHARD PARK — Patrick Gard, a Glenwood resident and a pianist, organist and vocalist, will be one of the featured soloists in the Orchard Park Chorale’s “Christmas Cheer and Carols” concert. The concert will be held Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, located at 4369 South Buffalo St., in the village of Orchard Park. Gard is also the music director at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsville.
The concert will feature J.S. Bach’s “Magnificat,” a choral tour de force, accompanied by Solisti of WNY, a group of local musicians. “Bach’s ‘Magnificat’ is a glorious, stirring piece of music, in which Bach exploits both the power of the full ensemble and the personal expression of solo voices,” said Kathleen Keenan-Takagi, artistic director of the chorale.
Also on the program are selections from Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols,” to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Britten’s birth. The chorale will also sing some traditional carols, arranged by John Rutter. Also on the program are a Polish lullaby, a Spanish carol and more. Joanne Hollenbeck is the accompanist and Karen E. Saxon is the assistant director. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.orchardparkchorale.org
