WEST FALLS — A group of educators gathered at Aurora Waldorf School on June 23 – 30, to participate in a “games boot camp.”

Every day began with 90 minutes of classroom study, followed by four, 90-minute periods of experiential learning.

Attendees included movement teachers, class teachers and remedial teachers, from public and private Waldorf schools.

Educators represented Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, British Columbia and Maine. Their backgrounds ranged from beginning teachers to those with many years of experience.

The stated goal of this course was to enrich teaching approaches and link Rudolf Steiner’s insights with more recent research and methods.

The attendees studied development through movement and were involved in gym and schoolyard and backyard games, that were once played by children, all over the world.

The class comprised 45 hours of classroom and experiential learning.

Aurora Waldorf School is located at 525 West Falls Road in West Falls. For more information, call 655-2029.
