BOSTON — Erie County Legislator John Mills announced that the second annual Boston Free Library hot dog roast fundraiser raised $1,016, to support the local library’s ongoing, stated efforts to provide programming to the local community and to continue its building maintenance projects.

“The library saw a significant increase, from its first fundraiser, thanks to the support of the community,” Mills said. “In 2012, the event raised $760 and this year, the total was over $1,000.

“Last year, I extended a challenge to the Boston Library director and board to break its record and they did better than expected,” the legislator added. “These funds will significantly benefit the library and I am pleased to present this donation.”

“I would like to thank the communities we serve, for their tremendous support,” said Boston Free Library Director Laura McLeod, during the check presentation, which was held at the library on July 8.

Mills’ hot dog roast fundraisers have raised nearly $40,000, for the libraries in his district.
