The Bertrand Chaffee Hospital Foundation held its annual meeting on May 5, where it welcomed a new member and re-elected its board officers to one-year terms.
President William King, of West Valley, Vice President Mary Kwiatek, of Springville, Secretary David Batterson, of Springville and Treasurer Claudia Miller, of Arcade were each re-elected to their positions.
The nomination of Joel Maul to an open seat was unanimously accepted, and he will serve as part of the class of 2015. Since his retirement as the Springville postmaster, Maul has been an active community volunteer, particularly with the Concord Historical Society and Mercantile, the Fiddler’s Green Country and Bluegrass Festival and the 2013 committee to erect the Seth Thomas clock in the village of Springville. He was recognized as Scouter of the Year by the Boy Scouts of America Greater Niagara Frontier Council in 2014 for more than 50 years of service to the scouting community.
The Bertrand Chaffee Hospital Foundation in Springville was established in 1997 to provide financial assistance to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home for equipment purchases, capital improvements and employee scholarships.
The Foundation is managed by an 11-person board of directors that meets quarterly. Through the generosity of donors, employees, estate bequests and community fundraising efforts, the Foundation has supported the hospital and nursing home with more than $1.5 million in funds over the past 10 years.
