Steven Buffa elected to alliance

SPRINGVILLE — Steven Buffa is the newest member of the board of directors at the Healthy Community Alliance. Buffa is currently the laboratory manager at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville. He has worked as a medical technologist, laboratory supervisor and laboratory manager at various medical centers in the Western New York area, for the last 25 years.

Buffa attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and received a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology and environmental biology, with minors in chemistry and English literature.

He has taken numerous training courses pertaining to healthcare safety and leadership and is a New York state-licensed clinical laboratory technologist. He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has several other professional affiliations.

In addition, Buffa is a second-degree black belt and an instructor in Isshin-Ryu Karate.

“Steven will be a welcome addition to our board and I look forward to the unique perspective he will bring from his years in healthcare,” said Sharon Mathe, HCA’s executive director.

The Healthy Community Alliance is led by a volunteer board of directors. Its mission is to improve quality of life in rural communities, through broad-based, inclusive partnerships that support wellness and prevention.
