Gymnastics Unlimited sends several to compete in Puerto Rico

HAMBURG ó Several of the Orchard Park Gymsters were in Puerto Rico for the Caribbean Classic Invitational Feb. 20-22. Among them is Devyn Rowe, a gymnast from Springville.

Jordyn Moonan, of West Senec,a enjoyed her best meet of the year, taking first place in the Level 7 ages 8-10 division, with a 38.6 all-around. She also placed first on all events, scoring a 9.7 vault, 9.7 bars, 9.65 beam and 9.55 floor. Lauren Blair, of Hamburg, also placed first all-around, in the Level 8 ages 12-13 division, with her best score of 37.725. She also took first on bars, with a 9.7;5 and floor, with 9.475; second on vault, with 9.3 and third on beam, with 9.2.

In the Level 9 Senior Division, Samantha Miller, of Hamburg, earned second AA, along with taking third on vault, beam and bars. Teammate Kristin Sliwinski, of Angola, placed second on vault and earned a medal as the seventh-place finisher on bars, beam and all-around. At Level 8, Senior Danielle Nevinger, of Orchard Park, took second on floor, with a 9.325.

At level 6 ages 13-plus, Kiera Callahan, of Orchard Park, won beam, took second on floor and vault and fourth on bars, good for second all-around. Julia Pupko won floor, was second on bars and third on beam and all-around. In level 7 ages 13-plus, Kennedy Faison won vault with a 9.75 and was fourth all-around and Rowe, of Springville, took fourth on beam and eighth all-around.

The same weekend in Williamsville, the Level 3 and 4 Orchard Park Gymsters competed at the Patriots Cup. At Level 4, Cali Czarcinski, of Blasdell, took first place on floor and the all-around, with a 37.5. Teammate Isabella Farina, of Orchard Park, was right behind her in second, with a 37.47. She also took first on vault and bars. Brooke Walker of Springville won beam with a 9.55 and took third on bars, floor and all-around, with 37.00.

Kelsey Kohl, of West Seneca, had a solid meet, placing on bars, beam floor and all-around, while Madison Connors, of Lakeview, took second all-around, Thalia Shea was first on floor, and Paige Zaifert, of Hamburg, first on beam and second on floor and all-around.

Also, Kaitlyn Bickley was third all-around, Jillian Harman, of West Seneca, was second on beam and vault and Ari Turner took third on beam.In Level 3, Ella Whitney won the all-around and Lea Reino and Savanah McKee of Elma each finished second all-around in their age divisions.
