Springville-Griffith Institute boys modified basketball report

SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute boys modified basketball is playing the last stretch of this sports season schedule.

The boys played against East Aurora, on Jan. 17, during a game that was close, throughout.

Springville trailed by 3 points at half, and was down 26 – 23, at the end of the third quarter.

Springville ultimately fell to the Blue Devils 40 – 30. Leading the Griffs in scoring were Austin Coon and Lexus Pollard, who each scored 8 points.

On Jan. 14, the boys traveled to Eden, to take on the host Raiders.

During the first half, the Springville boys outscored Eden 27 – 5 and went on to claim a 46 – 26 victory.

Pollard led the way, by scoring 12 points, while Johnny Domes had 10. Coon scored 8 points, during the win.

The Griffins hosted the JFK Bears on Jan. 28. Mitch Rosati’s free throws gave Springville a 25 – 11 lead, with less than a minute remaining, in the first half.

The Griffs continued to increase their lead, during the third quarter. Domes sent a long, outlet pass to Marcus James, finishing in transition.

Domes then received a long outlet from Coon and finished with a finger roll, with 2:30 remaining, in the third quarter.

The Griffins took that game 45 – 19. Pollard was the game’s leading scorer, with 16 points. Domes scored 12 points and Coon had 4, during the game.

The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Lake Shore on Feb. 4 and look to improve on their 6 – 3 record.
