WEST VALLEY — On April 12, the West Valley Central School Wildcats outdoor track team traveled to Allegany to participate in the Gator Relays against 10 other schools. The girls team was highlighted by the efforts of throwers Kaitlyn Snayczuk and Cameron McLeod. They combined for third place in the shot put relay and fourth in the discus relay. Snayczuk’s individual throws for shot put, at 32 feet, 6 1/4 inches, and 88’02” for discus, met provisional standards for sectionals.
The shuttle hurdles team of Alex Gentner, Andrea Gentner, Trisha Thomas and Cheyanne Folts took fourth, with a time of 1:11.10. Sprint Medley team of Alex Gentner, Andrea Gentner, Haven Ford and Tessa Sullivan took fifth, in 2:2.40. Distance Medley team of Ford, Kelsey Chai, Lauren Olejniczak and Taylor Smith took fifth in 16:11.80. Sixth place finishes were earned in the 100-meter dash by Thomas in 14.50 and in the 100-meter hurdles by Gentner in 18.30.
The boys were led by Jesse Nelson, who took the 100-meter dash in 12.3. Rin Tojo finished the 1,600 meter run in 5:25.70. Frank Cardamone hit 16 feet, 3 inches in the long jump. The team’s next meet was April 22 at Maple Grove.
