Golf tournament at Concord Crest lands a hole in one

CONCORD — A total of 88 golfers teed off for St. Joseph’s golf tournament, at Concord Crest Golf Course on Aug. 10. Players competed in a scramble format, for a variety of prizes and the trophy, which will be displayed at St. Joseph School in Gowanda. That trophy also recognizes all of the past winners.

The golfers had breakfast, lunch and a steak dinner at the golf course.

The day started out with a putting contest, which was won by Tom Sellers. Contest winners on the course included golfers whose balls landed closest to the holes on par thee greens. Gary Keppel, Butch Jimerson, JoJo Gernatt, Mike Birtchnall and Joey Drajem.

The longest drive winners were Mike Murphy and Melissa Peglowski.

The first place team of Keppel, Pete Sisti, Greg Sisti and Ted Burgess shot 58. The second place team, consisting of Kevin Smith, Bob Schoos, Kevin Makowski and Cisco Seneca, shot 62. The third place team of Sean Ferguson, Rick Williams, Joel Bennett and Joe Montour shot a 64.

Next year’s tournament will be held on Aug. 9.
