WEST VALLEY — The West Valley Central School boys and girls track teams both started off their seasons with the Frostbite Relays in Franklinville, on April 13.

The boys took fourth place, after beating Franklinville and Fillmore. The girls placed fifth, with a win against Fillmore.

On the boys side, Alex Steinbroner and Andrew Quinn had second place finishes, both in the triple jump relay. The team of Steinbroner, Taylor Grinols, Ethan Boberg and Collin Proctor took second place, during the 4-by-400-meter relay. Six WVCS athletes earned third place honors.

Three girls took second place, while five finished in third. Jordan Seltzer and Kaitlyn Snayczuk were two of those second place finishers. Both participated in the shot put relay.

In the team competitions, Marissa Hamilton, Megan Bailey, Seltzer and Rachael Zimmer came in second, in the 4-by-100-meter relay.

In addition, the Wildcats took second place, during the steeplechase, with the team of Cameron McLeod, Alex Gentner, Kelsey Chai and Bailey.

“The Wildcats battled the snow and rain and performed well, in their first meet of the season,” said Coach Kris Fuller.

The track teams were back in action on April 17, when they competed in Portville, and then headed to Alleghany-Limestone on April 19, for the Gator Relays.
