SPRINGVILLE — After undergoing a five-game losing streak that included a 2-1 loss at Cheektowaga on Oct. 9, the Springville-Griffith Institute boys JV soccer team returned to its winning ways on Oct. 11, with a 3-0 victory at Pioneer.
The Griffins played their most complete game of the season at Pioneer, with the entire team chipping in with an effort that contributed to the win. Derek Bush scored his first goal of the season, to give Springville a 1-0 halftime lead.
The second half saw the Griffins increase their lead to 2-0, on a goal by Zach Heary. David Reese’s goal, late in the game, made the final score 3-0. Nolan West earned the shutout, in goal.
The entire team played well in front of him, according to the coach. That victory moves the boys’ JV record to 4-8-2, with one game remaining at East Aurora on Oct. 16.
That score could not be reported by press time.
