SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute ladies varsity swim team ended its dual meet season with a 6-2 record. This put S-GI third in its division, behind East Aurora and Eden.

The team, consisting of 29 girls, produced some sizeable time improvements, this season. Nine of those girls will represent S-GI at the ECIC championship meet next week at Clarence High School: Alex Zifra, Katherine Zygaj, Libby Rehrauer, Michayla Piatek, Sophie Blum, Elle Holland, McKenzie Gavin and Kierstin Komenda. All nine hit a qualifying time for an individual event, to be eligible for this meet. Zifra, Zygaj, Rehrauer, Piatek, and Blum are veterans to this race and are ready to kick the water out of the pool, according to coach Karen Reynolds.

“We are looking forward to their placements and overall standings at this event, next week,” Reynolds added.

Another highlight for this team is the B Meet championships held this weekend at Maryvale High School. Springville will have 15 girls swimming, and Samantha Zifra will also be diving for S-GI. The other girls attending this meet are Lexi Blesy, Lauren Cosenza, Abbey Galley, Chloe Milbrand, Tori Piatek, MacKenzie Engel, Sydney Emley, Madisyn Emley, Haley Patterson, Allison Lavanture, Abby Moscato, Kelsey Zabawa, Katie Schlemmer and Anna Lawton.

“We look forward to personal best times from these ladies, as they end their 2013 season,” said Reynolds. ”Congratulations ladies, on a fantastic job, this season! Another fun and successful year for our team.”
