Karate group trains and participates in North Carolina charity

SPRINGVILLE — Master Steve Townsend and a group of students from Kempo Karate Center, of Springville, traveled to Wrights Martial Arts and More, in Jacksonville, N.C., from March 27-30 to participate in a weekend of training in Jujitsu, testing and a seminar in which they were able to train with Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Luigi Fioravanti. They all received their next advancement in Pancrase Jujitsu, during this testing.

They also helped with the other events going on during the weekend, which included Charity Mixed Martial Arts fights to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, karate training, karate belt testing and martial arts demonstrations. The event raised over $2,300 for St Jude’s Hospital.

Participants included Taylor Townsend; Aaron Klein; Frank Heinen; Nate Feldman; Master Jim Wright; Fioranvanti; professional fighter Enrique Watson; third-degree black belt in Pancrase Jerry Roeder and Townsend.
