BOSTON — Boston’s “yellow team,” sponsored by Kanberra Gel, had an undefeated season in the Freshman division of the Boston Fall Soccer League. The children, who are 9 and 10 years old, come from a number of municipalities.

Coach John Schelble said, “It’s not really a house league, because these kids come from Colden, West Falls, Springville, Holland, Eden, Hamburg, Orchard Park and of course, Boston.” He added, “When seeing one of these soccer games, the skills that some of these young players posses is pretty impressive.”

The team played a total of 12 regular games, playing each of the other four teams three times. After that, the league entered the playoffs and a championship.

“They become good friends with kids that attend different schools, in the surrounding area,” according to Schelble.

He added, “It’s a great sport for these young kids, and to see them develop, as a team, was very rewarding. Most of these kids come back next year and some will keep pursuing playing soccer, through high school.”
