WEST FALLS — Samantha Reese, 14, of East Concord, has been selected for the 2013 United States Olympic Dream Team. She recently traveled to Chula Vista, Calif. for a selection camp, where she worked with national coaches and resident athletes, to enhance her archery technique.
The junior dream team consists of 36 junior and cadet Olympic-style archers, who will travel quarterly to either the Olympic training site in Chula Vista, Calif., or to Colorado Springs, Col., for a week-long training camp.
Between camps, Reese will work with national coaches, through video conferences and by attending several national, indoor and outdoor tournaments.
Samantha, the daughter of Craig and Rachel Reese, is coached by Heather and Bob Pfeil and belongs to Leo’s Junior Olympic Archery Development in West Falls, where she has been shooting with the club since she was 6 years old.
Several fundraising activities will be held, during the year, to help Samantha follow in the footsteps of local Olympian and club member Jake Kaminski.West Falls Conservation Society donated $500 to help pay for Samantha’s expenses to travel to Colorado Springs in January.
