SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute varsity bowling team closed out its regular season, with a match against Iroquois on Feb. 4.
The girls won 7 – 0, to claim their first division championship, with a 9 – 1 record.
The girls chased that title, all season, with their only blemish of the season coming via a loss to Holland.
Tara Felser was the high scorer, with a 194 game and a 516 series.
The boys lost a 4 – 3 match, to finish at 4 – 6, on the season.
Zack Slippy bowled a 244 game and a 604 series. Nate Sopko had a 597 series and Val Hill had a personal high 573 series, during his final high school regular season appearance.
The boys could have nabbed a spot in the Section 6 championships, with a win, but will now wait, to see if their team average qualifies them in, as a wildcard seed.
The girls team will head to the Erie County Interscholastic Conference rolloffs on Feb. 11 and the boys will compete, the following day.
The girls are guaranteed a trip to the Section 6 championships on Feb. 14.
