SPRINGVILLE — The St. Aloysius boys basketball team competed in the St. Francis High School Tournament, during Thanksgiving weekend. The St. Aloysius Eagles went 1-1 in the tournament. In the first game, St. Aloysius played Catholic Academy and won 21-17. Eighth-grader Danny Robertson led the team in points, while eighth-grader Frank Neff made some key free-throws, at the end, to seal the game.
The Eagles returned to St. Francis on Nov. 30, for game two of the tournament, against Nativity from Orchard Park. Nativity’s defense was strong, and the Eagles found themselves down 21-4, at the end of the third quarter.
With some timely baskets, the Eagles closed the gap to 21-14, but Nativity pulled away and won the game 24-14.
