Reardon & Garvey bring the luck o’ the Irish to the SCA

Reardon & Garvey
SPRINGVILLE — Reardon & Garvey will be performing a pre-St. Patrick’s Day concert at the Springville Center for the Arts on March 14 at 8 p.m. The group includes Springville natives and Springville-Griffith Institute graduates Benjamin Garvey on guitar and vocals and Erik Wollschlager on bass and backing vocals.

Other band members who create their blend of American and Irish folk music include Michael Reardon on tenor guitar, vocals and percussion, Tim Hughes on accordion and backing vocals, and Cristina Hughes on banjo and vocals.

Reardon & Garvey’s sound incorporates a wide range of music, including traditional and contemporary folk and Irish, along with original tunes composed by Garvey, with a few Kingston Trio tunes thrown in, as well. Their harmonies go beyond their voices. The instrumentation includes traditional bodhran and spoons. They have performed at The Buffalo Irish Center, The Shannon Pub, Kitty Hoynes, O’Lacy’s, The Harp & Fiddle in Pittsburg, Pa., and at the Irasburg Fair in Irasburg, Vt. The band also opened for the Sawdoctors at Artpark, in Lewiston, N.Y.

Irish Storyteller Tim Daly will be joining the band, as well. Daly has told his stories to a range of audiences, and appears with Tom Callahan and Kindred regularly.

Springville Center for the Arts is located at 37 North Buffalo St. in Springville. The show starts at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at SpringvilleArts.org and will also be available at the door. Call 592-9038, for more information.
