During the Court of Awards, five Girl Scouts graduated. In addition, a number of other Girl Scouts bridged over to a new level in girl scouting.

This ceremony also marked the retirement of Teresa Souder, who has recently been serving as the Enchanted Mountains Service Unit Manager for six years and previously served as a leader for 23 years.

Souder first started when her youngest of three daughters needed a troop leader. She stayed through her daughter’s time with Scouts and those in her troop, and then continued with the program when her granddaughters were involved with Girl Scouts.

“I love the girls,” Souder told the newspaper. “I love teaching them and watching them grow.”

Souder also told the newspaper that the pandemic was difficult on the Girl Scout troops, as it was for most people. Some of the troops were able to find ways to meet outdoors or hold Zoom meetings, but the Court of Awards ceremony was even more special last week, as the troops were able to get together.
